Music Find: Once in a Blue Moon

Okay. I know New Edition is supposed to suck. But when I saw this album featuring them doing covers of my (everyones) favorite mo-town classics, I thought I'd give them another shot. Apparently this was their first album after kicking out Mr. Goody Two-Shoes Bobby Brown and their only album as a quartet. While I do respect them for trying, I don't respect them for failing. This album sucks. The vocals are mega-produced and the instrumentation sounds like something that comes out of a first generation Nokia phone in the early days of ringtone customization. These songs are truly awful, but for only 10 cents a piece, they're also kind of fun. So here are a couple for you, from me, for free. Giggle with me, please.

Here's their version of Gene Chandler's 1962 classic, "Duke of Earl".
Listen and don't laugh.

Now give a little listen to their rendition of Little Anthony and the Imperial's "Tears on My Pillow". If you can stand it, try to hold out for the spoken word interlude. It is... something else. And apparently, that's Little Anthony himself doing a guest appearance.
How does that make you feel?

Now watch this!
